Studio GARYWELT functions as a research practice and creative studio, focused on all that that is visual. GARYWELT aims to create space to question and dissect the structures that are entrenched in our society. A place in which the spectral is celebrated, instead of the binary. Topics like gender, sexuality and identity are the main focus within the projects of GARYWELT,
current or future.

Gary (Gerdien van Halteren, 1993) is an illustrator and multidisciplinary artist based in Amsterdam. For years Gary used her visual language to create illustrations for beloved clients. Recently, Gary's focus shifted to more autonomous projects, in which she finds room to research and experiment at a self determined pace.

Studio GARYWELT
Studio GARYWELT functions as a research practice and creative studio. The research-based interdisciplinary design approach enables GARYWELT to seek ethical alternatives and representations to gender equality, modern sexuality and identity. Currently Gerdien is working on an ongoing research project on gender development in early childhood, which she is currently investigating by means of Artificial intelligence machines. This research is in cooperation with MA Crossover Creativity HKU.

Gerdien van Halteren (1993) is an illustrator and multidisciplinary artist based in Amsterdam. Gerdien her work is primarily focused on topics such as gender, sexuality and identity. For years Gerdien used her visual language to illustrate and create for beloved clients. Recently, her focus shifted to more autonomous projects, in which she finds room to research, experiment and question at a pace that is not determined by anyone else’s but hers.
